My Cricket Match on Sunday's - (Gully Cricket)

www.freedom.teamopolis.com

Much loved sport - I would like to play the whole day. I had started to play this sport right from my young age like any others. I guess you would know, what Gully Cricket means. It is nothing but street cricket. I don’t think even the great cricket teams would have so much of fun, but this is ultimate. A real stress buster as far I am concerned. Now I have got a team which loves to play cricket every weekend. Thanks to my friend Sri. He was the one who formed this team and we have been doing really well. It was out of the blue, all this started. We had a rough discussion about the game when he said that they had a office team early and they used to play every weekend. So I insisted him to form it back again and tortured him till he started it. Finally we have a team which is THE BEST. I guess I am playing cricket after 5 long years. Earlier to that I had a team in my area where I had been playing very frequently. But I would say; I am enjoying this team that I am playing with now. I know we have not yet named our team. Probably I would have to talk to the team manager about this. He is Veera, a perfect gentleman, I would say. Well to write about him, I would require another blog. But still I would one day.
The match would start early morning by
6.30am on Sundays. That is the only day we get to spend some time. Everybody in our team our working and so we find it hard to play everyday. That would be the time that our captain Sri, would have promised the opponent team and they would have reached the ground by time and our team will some how make it up before 7.00am. Finally after setting the team, he goes for a toss with the opponent team and he decides the side we take (batting or bowling). One best part of the team, he never has a discussion with the team, what he is going to choose, and the team had never, ever grumbled about his decision. That is why I call him the captain. I know you hate me calling you ‘the captain’. But I feel that you’re the perfect fit. We have really great players in our team, who are good at bowling and batting and all-rounders’ as well. Man - you should really play a gully cricket to have the real feel of it. The game starts off and there is fun through out the game. All the team members in our team are really matured enough to understand the game and no buddy wants to play a selfish game. The other best part of the team. Every game we play, we look forward for winning. There is no complaining about the bowling spell or the batting spell. Even if we loose, we never get disheartened and we never complaint on anybody. I guess we have been playing as a team for nearly two months now and it has been going good (touch wood). The ultimate part of this game is to find grounds for us to play. This discussion would start by Wednesday and it will go on till Saturday evening and by Saturday night we would make up a decision where we would be playing. Then we would have to assign a person to go to the ground a little more early and block the pitch for us to play, else we might have to change the venue. Girls if you have not seen gully cricket, played in grounds, you should someday try watching it. Then you would realize how daring these young Chennai dudes are... lol..... You can judge on lots of things here, if you want to choose a guy for yourself. The amount of concentration, planning, game play, strength, stamina, etc etc etc.... lol... oh my god did I say stamina…. Never mind... guys I am sure you would agree...

The team will have to perform as a team; else we are sure to loose. Even if one member of the team does not perform, we will have to struggle to win the match. Everybody puts in their full effort and make sure that they contribute to the team.

We would not mind going the entire stretch of Chennai city to find a ground for us to play. We would hardly play two matches on a day, by that time it is noon and we would have to wind up, because of the hot sun. I know if we had a refreshing break in between, we would continue our game. There have been unbelievable run rate chasses that we have done, like 8 runs per over and we have won the matches as well; WOW.... I would love to play this game rather then sit and watch a cricket match on TV. But that does not mean I would not, but still I prefer playing. I am basically a lazy goose, who goes to office late on a daily basis, but can you imagine, I get up early and make myself to the ground latest by 6.45am, no matter which part of the city it is. That is the amount of interest I have for this game. I do agree, without such a wonderful team like this, I would not have loved it so much. Hats off to the organizer (captain). I guess finally I called him, the way he wants me to address him.
